Solvay to close trifluoroacetic acid plant in France

[ad_1]

Solvay says it plans to close a plant in Salindres, France, that makes trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and its fluorinated derivatives. The move will eliminate 68 jobs by October 2025. Solvay says the shutdown is due to negative financial performance and dim prospects at the facility. TFA, used in fluorochemical synthesis, has come under scrutiny recently for being similar in structure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, which regulators are trying to control.
