The scientist we are looking for this time was an academic trailblazer in their country. They were born into a German-speaking family in Finland in the mid-1800s, in a town in today’s Russia. They studied chemistry in Switzerland and obtained a doctoral degree, but our chemist was not able to further pursue a career as a scientist due to societal circumstances.
