American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund (ACS PRF) grants have been awarded to 126 researchers following the second round of applications, which closed in early September. ACS PRF grants provide money to researchers in four categories—doctoral new investigators, new directions, undergraduate new investigators, and undergraduate research grants—across 10 different areas of research.
Two rounds of funding take place each year, with 69 awards given earlier this spring. This year was also the first time that supplemental funding was given to awardees in an effort to boost the research capacity at undergraduate institutions.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the new ACS Petroleum Research Fund grant recipients, whose pioneering research will drive advancements in fundamental science and inspire future innovation,” says Marina A. Petrukhina, outgoing chair of the ACS PRF Committee. “Their projects embody the PRF’s legacy of supporting transformative discoveries in hydrocarbon-related fields that shape our understanding of their chemistry, chemical engineering, and geoscience.”
ACS PRF proposals for spring 2025 will be accepted from Monday, Feb. 10 to Friday, March 7, 2025. More information about the ACS PRF grants and how to apply is available at www.acs.org/funding/grants/petroleum-research-fund.html.
