The 27th Winter Fluorine Conference, a flagship event of the American Chemical Society Division of Fluorine Chemistry, will take place Sunday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 10, at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa, in Clearwater, Florida. The conference program offers something for everyone, whether you are in academia or industry, a nontraditional chemistry career, or in transition. Technical program. The conference will open Sunday with a welcome reception starting at 5:00 p.m. The meeting symposia will highlight advances in modern fluorine chemistry, including new developments in organic, inorganic, physical/computational, biological, industrial, and medicinal chemistry. The technical program includes oral symposia sessions, poster sessions, a sponsors’ exhibition, and an awards banquet. The conference provides an opportunity to listen not only to leaders in various fields of fluorine chemistry but to many young scientists, including postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students presenting their research work.
Poster sessions and sponsors’ exhibition. There will be two poster sessions: Session I will take place Sunday starting at 7:00 p.m., after the welcome reception; Session II will be on Wednesday, Jan. 8, starting at 8:00 a.m. and will include a buffet breakfast. Both are held concurrently with the sponsors’ exhibition. These sessions are ideal for all participants, but especially postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students, as well as experienced professionals in the participating industries to take part in interactions and discussions. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to learn about the latest products on the market from the sponsoring companies.
Gala dinner and awards ceremony. A gala reception and awards ceremony will honor members recognized for outstanding scientific contributions and leadership. They include recipients of the ACS Award for Creative Work in Fluorine Chemistry, Distinguished Service Award, and Doctoral Thesis Award, as well as those given undergraduate research awards and conference awards for excellent research poster presentations. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Lodging and registration. Online registration for the meeting will continue up to Jan. 4, but you can register at the on-site rate through the end of the meeting. The opportunity to reserve a room at a reduced rate at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa in Clearwater, Florida, ends Dec. 13 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
