The 3rd Atlantic Basin Conference on Chemistry (ABCChem) will gather chemistry professionals from across North, South, and Central Americas, Europe, and Africa to collaborate on multidisciplinary chemistry topics in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Dec. 6–9. This year’s theme aims to nurture that collaboration into impact: “Chemistry for Global Impact: Strategic Partnerships for Sustainable Innovation.”
Organizing societies include the American Chemical Society, Canadian Society for Chemistry, Brazilian Chemical Society, Mexican Chemical Society, Federation of African Societies of Chemistry, South African Chemical Institute, Latin American Federation of Chemical Associations, and European Chemical Society. Official partnering organizations include Commonwealth Chemistry and the Senegalese Committee for Chemistry.
Symposia. Topic areas, which will guide technical symposia, for the conference include green chemistry and sustainable innovation, global connections and education curriculum, artificial intelligence and technology-driven research, health and medicine for all, and emerging research in chemical frontiers. Plenary speakers will speak on the analysis of emerging chemical pollutants, reimagining chemistry education, and sustainable innovations coming out of universities. The event will also feature one of the ACS150 Journal of the American Chemical Society Symposium Series events, with Carlos A. Nobre of the University of São Paulo discussing nature-based solutions. Workshops will also be taking place.
Registration. All attendees, including invited and contributing speakers, must register for the event. Pricing is available for members, nonmembers, students, and guests. Emerging economy special registration pricing is also available for members residing in countries with emerging economies.
Housing. Conference events will be taking place at the Windsor Barra Hotel, which is connected to the Windsor Expo Center. There are no reserved accommodation blocks for this event, so attendees may book at the conference hotel or any other hotel location.
Venues, travel, and transportation. The conference will be taking place between the Windsor Expo Center and the Windsor Barra Hotel. The Rio de Janeiro/Galeão–Antõnio Carlos Jobim International Airport offers further information on car rentals, safe parking, and taxi and rideshare services, as well as local public transportation such as the bus, subway, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
