The American Chemical Society and the German Chemical Society (GDCh) have launched a 3-year dual-membership program offering discounted access to the other organization’s membership.
Beginning this month, ACS members residing in the US and GDCh members residing in Germany are each eligible for a 30% discount on eligible membership in the partner society. The partnership runs through May 2029.

“Now is the time to send a strong signal for cross-border cooperation within science in general and within chemistry in particular,” says Stefanie Dehnen, past president of the GDCh. “Our societies share many common goals, and we hope to strengthen our networks by growing the number of members in both GDCh and ACS. To support this, we have launched a dual-membership program that offers real benefits to those who choose to participate.”
The agreement reflects a broader push toward international collaboration in the chemistry community. Dual members receive the same rights and benefits as members of the partner society. The two societies have been deliberate about building a partnership that complements rather than duplicates each other’s existing offerings.

Eligibility is limited to members residing in the organizations’ respective home countries. Discounts apply to eligible membership categories and do not extend to local-section, division, or working-group fees. New and existing members are both eligible.
