On June 4–6, the American Chemical Society Board of Directors met in Washington, DC, at ACS headquarters to take official actions and take part in discussions. Some board members arrived a day early and, with ACS staff, met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for scientific research funding.
The board also agreed with actions that were approved by the ACS Council during ACS Spring on March 25, which included amending the name and duties of the Committee on Budget and Finance, chartering a new international chemical sciences chapter in Sri Lanka, allowing the continuance of the Committees on Chemists with Disabilities and on Environment and Sustainability, and approving the 2027 Schedule of Dues and Benefits.
In addition to these actions, the board took part in discussions that included enterprise risk management, the ACS Volunteer and Participant Code of Conduct Policy, responding to media inquiries, and recent feedback from the ACS community.
