“Ken, a recently retired Eastern Washington University (EWU) chemistry professor, passed away at home on Jan. 27 after a battle with cancer. He earned his BS from Central Washington University and his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Washington before joining EWU in 1981. Over 42 years, he became one of the department’s most respected and beloved teachers, guiding generations of chemists with clarity, patience, and dedication. He authored a chemistry textbook, served as department chair, and was active in local folk music and contra dance communities.
