Mary Claire Kennedy, 96, of Erie, Pennsylvania, died May 23, 2025.
“Sister Mary Claire, of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, taught at all levels in the Erie community as well as serving as a visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin and a research professor of biochemistry at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She was a visiting scholar in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Konstanz, Germany, and received a fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service. She authored or coauthored numerous scientific publications. As social justice coordinator for her community, she was involved in many local and global initiatives and was a crusader against human trafficking.”—Pat Marshall, congregational archivist
