Robert F. Landel, 98, of Santa Cruz, California, died Sept. 10, 2024.
“Robert leaves a legacy of scientific achievement and personal warmth. He co-developed the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation and received many awards for his work, including the Charles Goodyear Medal in 2006. Robert inspired generations of researchers through his contributions to polymer science and his lifelong curiosity about the world around him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he found his greatest joy in the love and connection he shared with his family. His wisdom, integrity, guidance, and affection will continue to resonate through the generations he nurtured and influenced.”—Carlisle Landel, son
